FREDERICK -- Weld County sheriff's deputies arrested a man on suspicion of being a so-called "handy man" burglar.
Deputies apprehended Jesus Alejandro Portillo-Diaz, also known as Alex Portillo. Sheriff's office spokesman Steven Reams said Portillo drove onto rural remote properties and/or farm houses in rural unincorporated Weld County and began to distribute fliers.
"During the Aug. 29 incident, when Portillo determined that a home owner was not present, he burglarized several residences," Reams said.
Reams also said Portillo got into the houses by breaking a glass window or a door.
"Portillo was selective in loot but preferred to take blank checks, check books, business account information and banking information, along was small items such as jewelry, Ipads and lap-top computers," Reams said.
Portillo was arrested just east of Frederick. But deputies think he may have committed other crimes in other parts of the county. Call 970-356-4015.
