Dorothea Mae Oestman, 95, passed away Dec. 2, 2012, at Brighton Care Center in Brighton. She was born July 18, 1917, to Junious and Gladys Weed in Laird, Colo.
She married Elmer Oestman, Sr., Sept. 5, 1937, and they farmed north of Wray until they retired and moved into town in November 1975. Dorothea and Elmer joined the United Methodist Church in Wray in 1948. Prior to retirement Dorothea worked for Duckwalls, Tri State Hardware, Lucas Appliance and was a part-time bailiff for the county court. She was also very active in the church and was an avid golfer. Her yard and flowers were her pride and joy for many years.
Dorothea was raised and went to school in the Laird community. She had four brothers and one sister, who have all preceded her in death.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Sr., in 2001. She will be missed by her loving family: son, Elmer Jr. and wife, Diane, of Broomfield, and daughter, Deana Medlock, of Fallon, Nev.; grandchildren, Lisa (Dick) Pettinger; Michele Sack; Dan Medlock; Darrel Medlock (Joan); Douglas Medlock; Denise Medlock; Dottie Medlock; Trevor Bills; and Marnie Boom, as well as multiple great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services for Dorothea will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Wray United Methodist Church in Wray. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Wray.
