FREDERICK — The town of Frederick is bringing new retail and entertainment to Downtown Frederick for the holiday season by introducing Festive Fridays on the first three Fridays in December.
Festive Fridays, which will take place 6 to 9 p.m. at the corner of Fifth and Oak streets, will include pop-up gift shops, holiday movies, food trucks and more.
Pop-up shops featuring local vendors from Colorado will be in the Miners Square building, 451 Oak St., while the holiday movies will be screened in the old bank building at 450 Oak St. All activities and movies are free of charge, allowing guests to spend money with the local vendors and food trucks.
“Our residents have expressed a real interest in having more retail opportunities in Downtown Frederick,” said Frederick spokeswoman Megan Williams. “Festive Fridays gives us a chance to showcase some of the spaces available in Downtown Frederick while at the same time giving the community a reason to come together and enjoy the holidays in their hometown.”
Each night has a specific theme:
• Dec. 6 - Holiday Vintage: Kicking it old school with vintage gift finds for everyone on your list. Movie: “A Christmas Story.”
• Dec. 13 - Mom’s Night Off: Gifts for the special women in your life and fun crafts and activities for the kids. Movie: “The Muppet Christmas Carol.”
• Dec. 20 - Jelly of the Month Club: Quirky gifts for last-minute shoppers! Sip an Echo Brewing beer while enjoying the movie. Movie: “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
