FORT LUPTON -- A fire Wednesday morning destroyed a home near downtown.
The fire began shortly before noon in the 100 block of West Hill Court, which is near the intersection of the business loop of U.S. Highway 85 and state Highway 52. Firemen from the Fort Lupton, Brighton and Frederick fire departments needed about an hour to bring the fire under control.
At one point, the home behind the affected structure was evacuated. Fire crews also had to pull out of the structure for fear of a roof collapse.
