FIRESTONE — Firestone Mayor Chad Auer was appointed last month to the National League of Cities 2013 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee.

The committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, noise control, and solid and hazardous waste management. The International Council works to expand opportunities in globalization.
“It is an enormous honor for Firestone to have a voice at the national level,” Auer said. “I look forward to pushing for innovation and expanding global opportunities for Firestone, Weld County and Colorado by serving on these important committees.”
As a member of these NLC policy groups, Auer will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns on Capitol Hill, with the administration, and at home.
NLC is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.
