FREDERICK — Ready for a bounty of fresh fruits, vegetables and other wares? The Frederick Market will open for its fourth season Thursday, June 5, at a new later time of 4 to 8 p.m.
The market will continue to run every Thursday June through September on Fifth Street from Main to Elm Street. The shift in the hours of the market is due to resident feedback that was given on the town’s social media outlets and website.
“We asked our vendors and our guests what hours they preferred for the market,” said Town of Frederick Events Coordinator, Brooke Cunningham. “We learned that the vendors did not have much of a preference as long as we kept it on Thursday, but the overwhelming response from our residents was that later hours would make it more convenient ...to visit the market after work.”
The Frederick Market will continue to offer special themed events throughout the season, expanding to six unique events in 2014: Seeds ‘N Splashes on June 12, All American market on July 3, Back2School on Aug. 7, Fiesta Day on Aug. 28, Community Connections on Sept. 11, and Oktoberfest on Sept. 25.
“We had a great response to both the new location and the special events at the market last year, so it’s important to us to continue giving the community what they want,” said Cunningham. “We are trying some fun new ideas for events and we hope the community will come check them out!”
Some of the local growers and artisans attending this year are Farmers Next Door, A.J. Roasted Chiles, Tatum’s Handcrafts and Miller Farms to name a few. For a complete list of vendors, visit www.frederickco.gov/FrederickMarket.
