HEAL Committee brings Get Movin’ Challenge to Frederick

FREDERICK — The Frederick Healthy Eating Active Living Committee wants you to be active and win this May by signing up for LiveWell Colorado’s Get Movin’ Challenge. Participants are encouraged to engage in physical activity for 30 minutes a day for 30 days, May 1 to 30.

Anyone can participate for as many days as they like by signing up at www.getmovingchallenge.org before May 1st. Prizes are given weekly in addition to other prizes just for participating like a baseball cap and a free entrée from Chipotle for being active for 30 minutes each day for 30 days or a water bottle for 15 days! You could also win a grand prize that includes a two-night stay at the Curtis Hotel, two Fitbit wristbands, $100 Boulder Running Co. gift certificate, Chipotle catering for 20 and two Adidas 2014 World Cup soccer balls. New this year is a competition between cities and towns in Colorado for the title of most active Colorado city. Help Frederick take home the title by signing up!

LiveWell Colorado and sponsor Kaiser Permanente with help from Gov. John Hickenlooper, will kick off the second annual statewide Colorado Get Movin’ Challenge. The Colorado Get Movin’ Challenge provides free online tools to encourage Coloradans to make a concerted and collective effort to be active during May. Colorado’s total amassed minutes will be displayed at GetMovinChallenge.org and will demonstrate that Colorado is the most active state in the nation.

The Frederick HEAL Committee was established last year and is comprised of residents from the community, representatives from the Town, Carbon Valley Recreation District, the medical community and St. Vrain Valley School District. Their mission is to provide easy, viable opportunities for health eating and active living for those who live, work and play in the Carbon Valley.
