James Dowd, retired Major U.S. Air Force, died peacefully Oct. 28, 2012, at home of natural causes at the age of 94, in Brighton. Born June 5, 1918, he graduated from Columbia University in 1938. He was in the Marine Corp Reserve, U.S. Army Corp and the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
He is survived by his son, James Enos Dowd, of Brighton, and his daughter, Forest, of Massachusetts, his nine grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He had previously lived in Pueblo with his wife, Margaret Shaeffer, who died in 2004. Since then he had been living with his son and his wife in Brighton.
Contributions in memory of Jim may be made to his church, St Elizabeth’s Episcopal, 76 S. Third Ave. in Brighton. A memorial service was held there Nov. 3.
