Ortiz, Letkomiller capture titles at Alameda wrestling tournament

LAKEWOOD -- Frederick's Jesse Ortiz (113 pounds) and Nick Letkomiller (182) claimed first place in their respective weight classes at Saturday's Alamaeda Invitational wrestling tournament.

Ortiz beat Mitchell's Chip McElfresh 9-5 in the finals. Ortiz won his first two matches by pinfall in a combined time of 2:51.

Letkomiller turned back Hinkley's Isaiah Silva 11-7 in the 182-pound final. Letkomiller pinned his first two opponents in a combined time of 5:57.

Cody Campos (132) finished third by winning three of four matches. He earned a major decision (12-4) win over Ryan Buettner of Fountain-Fort Carson in the third-place match.

Dylan Shoop (138) and Jordan DeFalco (145) split their four matches. Shoop beat Hinkley's Trevor Moore by pinfall in 34 seconds, and he pinned Josh Merlos of Westminster in 4:20.  DeFalco pinned Fountain Fort-Carson's Jeff Price in 3:24, and he earned a technical fall (19-4) win over Wheat Ridge's Zach Cutler.

Noah Payne won three of his five matches at 160 pounds. He beat Denver West's Diace Iridujunda by pinfall in 3:36, and he beat Kenny Ortiz of Denver North by pin in 1:36. Payne also picked up a 3-2 decision over Ardin Puris of Eaglecrest.

Chance Warnock (120) won one of three matches, a 7-1 decision over Jason Georgis of Boulder. Brandon DeFalco (152) took one match, a pinfall win iover Parisa Rafie of Summit High School in 1:44. Nick Henderson (170 pounds) didn't win either of his matches.
