Editor,
“Rich man, poor man, beggarman, thief.”
If you are as old as I am, you remember when, as children and were required to make a choice, you would extend your hands and point at each one in turn, reciting above verse along with several others until you finally chose “this very one.”
How appropriate the first four lines would seem to be in the selection of candidates we have to choose from. The public has been bombarded with contradiction, “debates,” character assassinations, publicity to the tune of millions, maybe billions of dollars, counting the party celebrations afterwards. No wonder our country’s economy is suffering.
The sad part is that all the money being spent is supposed to acquaint the people with the candidates. I feel acquainted all right! With all the backbiting, accusations, dirt throwing within the same party and our own leaders not being able to get along, how can we hope for world peace? After expressing their feelings about one another, how can they work together afterward? Just askin’.
On a purely personal note I say, “Hang in there, Ron Paul.” I know you don’t have a chance in politics, but it’s a comfort to know there are some common-sense people left who care. And speaking of politics, it seems they are going a long way to ruining government.
