FIRESTONE — Firestone residents will observe seismic testing within town limits, potentially as early as late January.
At the Nov. 14 Firestone Board of Trustees meeting, the Board approved a revocable license agreement with Geokinetics Inc., to conduct non-destructive seismic testing to determine the location of subsurface mineral deposits on Town of Firestone property.
Representatives from Geokinetics began installation of the receiver network earlier this month. The vibratory testing will follow. Testing at each location takes less than one minute, so the company will be completed with a neighborhood in a couple of hours.
Approximately a week or two after the testing is complete, Geokinetics will pick up the receiver network.
Town of Firestone Engineer David Lindsay said the testing will be performed using a vehicle mounted vibrating plate that will apply a non-destructive vibration to the surface of the premises with data collected by a network of sensors.
Homeowners located within testing locations will be notified by door hangers no more than 48 hours and no less than 24 hours before the vibe trucks arrive to conduct the testing.
