Six volleyball club members move on to college play

Six members of the Brighton Five Star Volleyball Club opted to continue their careers in college next year.


The six are Tylynn Nelson (Holy Family High School, Benedictine College, Kan.; Elena Michalski (Longmont High School, Colorado State University-Pueblo; Brooklin LeBon (Frederick High School, CSU-Pueblo; Mikayla Martinez (Mead High School, Laramie County Community College, Wyo.; Ellie Monarch (Brush High School, Colorado School of Mines; and Morgan Brim (Mead High School, Cornell College, Iowa.

The club finished its 23rd year of business this season. It carried 11 teams ranging in age from 12 to 18. All of the top teams in those age groups finished in Division 1 or 2 within the Rocky Mountain region, which is affiliated with USA Volleyball.

Teams competed locally and nationally. They traveled to Omaha, Neb., Atlanta, and Reno, Nevada.

The season may be done, but the club is planning outdoor tournaments, drop-in sessions, tryouts and one-day clinics during the summer. The seventh annual Volley Rendezvous Tournaments are June 8, July 13 and Aug. 24 in the Brighton area. Information about the clinics is at the club’s web site, www.fivestarvbc.vom.
