St. Vrain Valley Schools will again offer a program for senior citizens or individuals with a disability to work off a portion of their property taxes by volunteering in district schools.
The 2013-14 Tax Work-Off Program is open to qualifying seniors and individuals with a disability who meet the following criteria:
• Applicants must be 60 or older or a person with a disability certified by their physician.
• Applicants must own AND live in the home for which they are applying.
• Applicants must reside in the St. Vrain Valley Schools boundary area.
• Only one person per household may apply.
Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those interested should call Linda Lohmann at 303-682-7205 through Oct. 31 for registration information. Be prepared to leave a message with your name and phone number as we expect a large volume of calls. Participants from 2012-13 are welcome to apply again.
The district will accept 100 people from Boulder County and 100 people from Weld County. The first 100 from each county to call will be asked to complete an application prior to being accepted into the program. The district will take an additional 10 people from each county on a waiting list.
Volunteers will be paid up to a maximum of 40 hours at $8 per hour for a total of $320. Volunteering must be completed between January and April 2013. For additional information, visit www.svvsd.org/taxworkoff or call 303-682-7205.
