Steven Noel Troester, of Brighton, passed away Nov. 2, 2012, in Chico, Calif.
Steve was born in 1954 in Brighton. He lived in Chico since 1986. Troester served on the board of directors for the Torres Homeless Shelter, Lucian Manor senior housing, CHIP and Habitat for Humanity. He also was the chairperson for the American Red Cross’ volunteer response to a flood in Chicago in 1995.
Troester was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he served on its council, ran the worship and music committee and mentored junior high school youngsters. He also served breakfasts at the local Jesus Center.
Troester is survived by his wife, Marge; and two sons, Jacob and Quin.
No services were held. Instead, a celebration of life was Nov. 10 in Chico. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Torres Shelter, the Shalom Clinic, or to the Kagitumba Church in Rwanda via Faith Lutheran Church.
