    the United Power Board of Directors.

  • Heat, rain, gang up on rec center

    July has been a hectic month at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center. Between being busy because of the heat and then dealing with all the afternoon thunderstorms, staff has been jumping. Just this past week, 17 youth baseball games had to be rescheduled because it always seemed the thunderstorms hit at game time.

    The Weld County District Attorney’s Office filed 11 felony charges against a 28-year-old caretaker on suspicion that she used a 101-year-old woman’s credit card for purchases totaling several thousands of dollars.

  • Patriots Day: Saluting Our American Heroes

        Members of the Carbon Valley Community are joining together to organize the Patriots Day Remembrance on Sunday, 9-11-11.
        The event will honor the 10-year remembrance of 9/11 as well as salute our American heroes including veterans, active military and first responders. It also coincides with the Sunday morning Honor Flight taking World War II Veterans from Loveland to DIA, where they will be flown to Washington, D.C.

    Poverty and food insecurity are problems across the United States. Nationally, one in six children goes to bed hungry or at risk of hunger. The national average monthly cost to feed a family of four is $850, which is 1/3 of a family’s  income if they are living in poverty.
