Five area youngsters move on in the Rockies Skills Challenge

FIRESTONE — After an afternoon of running, throwing and hitting, five area youngsters qualified for the sectional round of the Colorado Rockies Skills Challenge.



Carbon Valley’s challenge was at Firestone Sports Park June 17.

The winners advance to the sectional round in July. The winners there move to the finals at 10 a.m., Aug. 23, at Coca-Cola All Star Park in Lakewood. State finalists will be invited to attend the Rockies game against Florida, starting at 6:10 p.m. Aug. 23. Not only that, the finalists receive three tickets to the game and a baseball skills challenge T-shirt.
