• Michael Butts completes U.S. Navy basic training

        Navy Airman Michael D. Butts, a 2008 graduate of Frederick High School, completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
         During the eight-week program, Butts completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

  • Melick promoted

        Steven Michael Melick recently earned the Below The Zone Senior Airman promotion.
        “Below The Zone” refers to the effective promotion date that is 6 months or earlier than the normal promotion of Senior Airman rank at 36 months. This early promotion opportunity is restricted to elite Airmen who stand out from their peers and perform duties at a level above their current rank.

  • Hunter graduates basic training

        Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Joshua S. Hunter graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
        The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
        Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Broussard completes Navy tech course

        Navy Seaman Taylor C. Broussard, a 2011 graduate of Frederick High School, recently completed the Navy’s Basic Electronics Technician School and earned honors as a distinguished graduate. Distinguished graduate is reserved for those students who exhibit exemplary military conduct, exceptional leadership qualities and academic achievement.

  • Gage Kitchen completes basic training

        Air Force Airman Gage A. Kitchen graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force base, San Antonio, Texas.
        Kitchen is the son of Sheryl Kitchen, of Longmont, and grandson of Terri Billman, of Frederick.

  • Homyak to celebrate 90th birthday

        Kenneth Homyak will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 1 to 5 p.m., April 7, at Ribbons and Rainbows in Platteville.

  • Benoit graduates training

        Army Pvt. Chad J. Benoit has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
        During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.  Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

  • Ormsbee to be installed as Honored Queen for International Order of Jobs Daughters

        Katherine Helen Ormsbee, of Frederick, will be installed as Colorado State Grand Bethel Honored Queen for The International Order of Jobs Daughters, June 17 at the Fountains Hotel in Loveland.
        She has been active with both the East Lake chapter at the St. Vrain Masonic Lodge in Longmont and also with the Littleton chapter. Her special honored guest and installing officer will be Beverly Downing Bishop, Colorado’s first Grand Bethel Honored Queen.
