    Frederick High School is hosting a free youth football camp for 7- to 13-year-olds from 6 to 7:30 p.m., July 30 and 31, at the school.

  • Registration continues for mini hitters until Aug. 3
    Developing basic volleyball skills is the goal of the Carbon Valley Recreation Center's mini hitters program for first- and second-graders. Registration continues through Aug. 3. Participants meet Saturdays at the rec center for five weeks. Cost is $35 for residents and $42 for nonresidents. Call 303-833-3660.
  • Yoiuth volleyball sign-ups continue to Aug. 3
    Fifth- through eighth-graders interested in the North Valley Athletic Association youth volleyball program through the Carbon Valley Recreation Center can sign up through Aug. 3. Practices are twice a week starting the end of August, depending on gym and coaches' availability. Games start in September. Fees are $55 for residents and $66 for nonresidents for fifth- and sixth-grade leagues and $60 for residents and $72 for nonresidents for the seventh- and eighth-grade league. Info: 303-833-3660.
  • Pee wee flag football registration runs to Aug. 23
    Sign-ups for the Carbon Valley Recreation Center's pee wee flag football program continue through Aug. 23 at the center or online at www.recdistrict.com. Practices are once a week starting in August. Games start in September. Three divisions are available -- first- and second-graders (entering school this fall), third- and fourth-graders and fifth- and sixth-graders. The fee is $50 for residents and $60 for nonresidents.   • Micro football registration deadline is Aug. 3
    Kindergartners through 4-year-olds interested in learning about football can sign up for the Carbon Valley Recreation Center's micro football program. The instructional level activity includes no games and no equipment. Weekly practice times are 45 minutes in length, starting in early September. Registration deadline is Aug. 3.   • Youth cheerleading team sign-ups
    Sign up for the Carbon Valley Recreation Center's youth cheerleading team that will perform during the center's youth tackle football games this fall. Games begin in September, and cheerleading practice starts in mid-August. It's open to 4- to 12-year-olds. Fee is $55 for residents and $60 for nonresidents. Call 303-833-3660.
  • Rockies Skills Challenge sectional round is July 29
        Ten youngsters qualified for the sectional round of the Colorado Rockies Skills Challenge. The regional round was in Firestone June 18.     The boys winners are: 6- and 7-year-olds: Peyton Ellison and Xander Lovins; 8- and 9-year-old boys: Jared Delgado and Jaden Delgado; 10- and 11-year-old boys: Derek Lundeen, Wyatt Derr and Lane Goodrich; and 12- and 13-year-old boys: Matthew Delgado.     The girls winners are: 6- and 7-year-old girls: Melia Sloss; 10- and 11-year-old girls: Gillian Ridgley
  • Second annual Special Olympics softball tourney set for July 27
        Firestone will host the second annual Firestone Special Olympics softball tournament from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 27 at the Firestone Regional Sports Complex, 6805 Tilbury Ave.     This tournament will host numerous teams from the Special Olympics Colorado Northeast Area for an athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.      This tournament attracts regional participation to support approximately Special Olympic athletes and coaches in their sporting endeavors.
